welcome home my little mustached friend.
he sits on my coffee table and makes me smile. not sure how to use this quirky find, but for now he holds matchbooks.
i hate milk.
but i love ebay. i have never really been into ebay until i had to buy a birthday gift for my gadget techie toy loving boyfriend. i got him this really cool passport polaroid camera, but i will save that for another day, another post. anyways, my boyfriend got us a record player and we have been thrifting vinyls here and there ever since. tell you the truth, we had a collection of records before the record player. our collection had been propped up against my living room wall in 4 rows according to genre. can u imagine?!?! ughhhh, i had enough and started looking for storage and thought of those plastic milk crates that deejays used to transport their records from gig to gig. i went a little more rustic and industrial and scored the above vintage wooden, metal milk crate from ebay. love. unfortunately the vinyls only fit when you lay them horizontally. fail.
fifty50.
in homage to the lakers vs. celtics finals, i present to you my vintage lakers tee and matching vintage “lakers purple” booty shorts. i thrifted the 2 on different occasions and didn’t realize the correlation until i was organizing my closet. these are not your typical sports team tee or american apparel-esque shorts, but they are 50/50’s. the term 50/50 has been referenced on my new fave show, “how to make it in america”. if you haven’t watched it, you must! anyways, 50/50 is what makes a vintage tee a vintage tee. 50% cotton and 50% polyester. i will probably never wear the 2 together except to a themed party with some tube socks and sweatbands a la kareem abdul-jabbar.
game on!
a few of my favorite things.
muji pens & lucite jewelry. full price office supplies, but thrifted jewelry. this bangle is bangin’.
never rule out drawstring bags.
alexander wang refers to them as bucket bags, but i still call them drawstring bags.
leopard print + drawstring = pirate booty of a bag
memorial day sale at your local thrift store.
davidson star-d tripod. probably one of my priciest purchases, but it was love at first sight.
a pair of puertos.
i don’t remember how much i paid for these framed prints, but if i were to put a number out there i say a ballpark figure of siete dollars totale. gotta love thrift stores. by the way, don’t you love the hermes orange?!?! when i shared my blog with a friend today, his response was “i just got back from puerto vallarta”. good times.
3 color desert vs. woodland pattern.
so just last night, my boyfriend recommended that i get rid of my army jacket after i and a sea of hipsters sported such outerwear to a photo exhibit. this same boyfriend bought the above military camo jacket today.
walk like an egyptian.
the other day, i was riding the subway to work and noticed the woman next to me wearing some cool bangles very similar to the ones in the photo. so when I saw these at the brooklyn flea market, i just had to have them :) the ends of the brass bangles are pharaoh heads. i am not sure if they are “vintage”. the vendor only had this pair. this bangle score made up for the lobster roll guy being a no show at 1 hanson place. a chocolate brownie cookie coupled with a hot tea and a lobster roll rock my bk flea visits.
